NIBO: the hybrid footwear with two types of insoles

Some details seem small until you understand them. And then everything makes sense.

One of the most common questions when someone receives their NIBO shoes is simple: why do they come with two insoles? The answer is simple too, although there is much more behind it than it may seem: because every foot needs its own process.

At NIBO, we design foot-friendly and healthy professional footwear created to support the foot throughout long working hours, while respecting its natural movement. And that starts from inside the shoe.

Two insoles to adapt to every foot

Traditional footwear has conditioned the foot to move in a limited way. Excessive cushioning, rigid structures, artificial support… all of this can change the way we walk.

That is why moving directly to more foot-friendly and healthy footwear is not always immediate. The foot needs time to adapt, regain mobility and activate muscles that may not have worked properly for some time.

This is why every pair of NIBO shoes includes two removable anatomical insoles: a transition insole and a natural movement insole.

They are not an extra or an accessory. They are part of the design. The idea is not simply to choose one or the other, but to adapt the footwear to your stage, your way of walking and your own process.

Transition insole: a first step towards natural movement

The transition insole has a clear purpose: to make the change from conventional footwear to more foot-friendly footwear easier.

It provides a more progressive level of support for those who are not yet used to a more natural way of moving. It helps the foot adapt without forcing it, without imposing a specific shape and without demanding an abrupt transition.

In a way, it acts as a bridge. An intermediate step that allows the body — not just the foot — to adjust naturally to a new way of walking.

Natural movement insole: more freedom for the foot

The second option is the natural movement insole, designed for those already looking for a freer, healthier and more natural step.

Here, intervention is minimal. The goal is not to correct, but to allow. To allow the foot to move as it was designed to move, to expand, to adapt to the ground and to regain its function.

Because when the foot works, the body responds better.

This insole is designed for those who want greater freedom of movement and a more natural experience inside the shoe.

SBS material: flexible, resistant and hypoallergenic

Both insoles are made from SBS thermoplastic elastomer, a material chosen for its technical performance.

SBS is flexible, yet keeps its shape. It follows movement without deforming, absorbs impact and returns to its original state with every step. This improves the durability of the insole and helps prevent unnecessary interference with the foot’s biomechanics.

It is also a hypoallergenic material, which means it does not cause allergies and does not deform with use. Breathability comes from the technical microfiber lining, an absorbent and breathable material designed for daily use in professional environments.

Insoles that support, not correct

In many shoes, the insole tries to correct, hold or modify the way you step. At NIBO, the approach is different.

The insole is not designed to change the structure of the foot, but to support it.

And that difference matters. Because the foot does not need to be constantly corrected. It needs space, freedom and stimulation to function as what it is: a complex, dynamic structure designed to adapt.

That is why NIBO’s two insoles are not an aesthetic option or an added feature. They are a tool to adapt the shoe to your stage.

You can start with the transition insole and gradually move towards the natural movement insole. Or you can alternate between them depending on use, shift type, surface or the feeling you are looking for.

There is no single correct way to do it. There is a way that makes sense for you.

Foot-friendly professional footwear for long shifts

NIBO was created for professionals who spend many hours on their feet and need comfortable, functional footwear that respects the foot’s natural movement.

That is why every detail is designed to support you throughout your shift: from the wide toe box to the flexible sole, including the two removable insoles that allow you to adjust the wearing experience.

Because walking better does not start only with the shoe. It starts with understanding the foot.

And when you understand it, it makes sense that design should not impose, but support.
